We will examine a condition that has developed in our erstwhile great nation, which has brought us to a time such as never was. We are living in a time that is unique in our nation’s history, and very few people are taking notice. The United States of America was founded by men and women that wanted to escape oppression and to be free, and great effort was exerted to gain that freedom. We now live in the dark reality of a strong-armed and oppressive federalism that has all of the characteristics and potential of imperial Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome. Indeed, we are on the very brink of dictatorship in a new world order, just as predicted in various places in the Scriptures. How can this be happening here? Just one generation ago, it would not have been believed to be possible. I was born in the year 1950 and have lived in Wisconsin all of my life. I can truly say that this country is no longer the one in which I was born. We are living in a time when people want to be slaves of a government that will feed them, medicate them, entertain them, indoctrinate them, confiscate the fruit of their labors, and bury them.

Sure, there have been Christians who did good science, but that was before Darwin. Right? Wrong! Here is the story of a staunch Darwinian who converted to creationism first, then to Christianity.

You couldn’t claim Dick Lumsden’s (1938-97) faith come from the culture in which he lived, like you might with someone from the 1500s. If anything, he was a product of the anti-creationist second half of the twentieth century. Dr. Richard D. Lumsden was fully grounded in Darwinian philosophy, and had no reason or desire to consider Christianity. Science was his faith: the facts, and only the facts. But at the apex of his professional career, he had enough integrity to check out the facts, and made a difficult choice to go where the facts led him, against what he had been taught, and against what he himself taught. His life took a dramatic turnaround, from Darwinist to creationist, and from atheist to Christian.

“On this 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, with America deteriorating like an old and obsolete relic of our patriotic past, I’m left to wonder if the event let freedom in or tyranny out. You see, as I write, the wall is being rebuilt–not with concrete, mortar or razor wire–but instead, with satellites, cameras, computers, databases and an array of impressive and oppressive technologies that can monitor, record and analyze the movements, expressions, words and even thoughts of an unsuspecting populace now evermore willing to exchange God-given liberties and freedoms for governmental guarantees of health, safety, security and prosperity.

Following are some video presentations on the subject of creation science that are useful for evangelism and education. None of these is merely a lecture. Each features excellent visual graphics and is presented in a manner that will be interesting to a wide variety of audiences. The six most interesting and effective for evangelism and general viewing, in my estimation, are A Question of Origins, From Evolution to Creation, The God of Wonders, Incredible Creatures that Defy Evolution I, Unlocking the Mystery of Life, and Where Does the Evidence Lead.

Let me emphasize that in recommending these video presentations we are not thereby recommending the organizations that produce them, which to our knowledge are New Evangelical at best. They refuse to earnestly contend for the whole faith of the Word of God. Instead, they pick a few things to stand for and treat the rest as “peripheral” and unnecessarily divisive to “the body of Christ” and restrictive to their cause. If the faith once delivered to saints were likened to a 12-string guitar, these New Evangelical organizations pluck only some of the strings, though with great vigor. They protest, “We are not churches,” but I don’t see anywhere in God’s Word that some believers are exempt to earnestly contend for “the faith once delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). Which part of the faith? All of it and particularly that part of it that happens to be under attack at any particular time.
